A common annoyance when trying to play Game Center compatible games is that you might be bothered by unwanted Game Center banner notifications. This can be quite annoying, especially when you are playing a full screen game and the banner is covering the button in the game interface.
Responding to a request posted to /r/jailbreak last week, iOS developer ExeRhythm launched a new free jailbreak tweak called GameShut that effectively stops these intrusive types of Game Center banner notifications.
While the first question that came to my mind after seeing the tweak was “why wouldn’t someone just turn off Game Center notifications if this is such a problem?”, I noticed another Redditor asked this question and the developer replied: “Doesn’t work for me, even with notifications disabled. So it looks like the tweak does something that Game Center notifications can’t block.
In a joke about how quickly this jailbreak tweak was made, the developer added to the promo image above the joking phrase “This cover took me 3 times longer than the tweak itself.”It would seem that this is a very simple jailbreak tweak.
If you find yourself inundated with those annoying Game Center notification banners when you open your favorite games, you can download GameShut for free from the SourceLocation repository via their package manager app. GameShut supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices and is open source on the GitHub developer page.
Those who are not yet using the SourceLocation repository can add it to their package manager application using the URL below:
