Apple has been letting you remove stock apps like the Stocks app from your iPhone for quite a while now. But there are still some third-party apps that don’t support this “feature”yet, such as the Wallet app. But even that may change in the near future.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple will allow iOS users to remove the stock Wallet app from iOS 16. However, it won’t be available in an upcoming update this fall. Instead, the initial report indicates that the feature will roll out with the launch of iOS 16.1.
In fact, the discovery was discovered in the iPadOS 16.1 beta code.
For this purpose, the Wallet app can also be installed from the App Store. Like other stock apps, Apple allows users to uninstall. This way, if an app is deleted and a user wants to download it again, they can do so directly from the App Store.
The Wallet app is required to use Apple Pay, so keep that in mind. The application is used for mobile payments and for this it stores not only debit and credit cards, but also bonus cards and much more.
It’s an odd move to say the least, especially considering how important the Wallet app is to so many iOS users out in the wild. But this may be due to antitrust violations that the company has been held accountable for. Apple might be facing this a bit straight forward (in their own way), but we’ll have to wait and see if Apple has anything to say about the change when the feature actually arrives.
