Beginning September 5, Tesla is raising the cost of fully autonomous driving from $12,000 to $15,000. And it’s probably not over yet.
Tesla has made big changes in the automotive industry since it entered the market. We owe him, for example, OTA updates, software activation of features or subscriptions. A practice that is praised by many. Others, on the other hand, criticize its pricing policy, which is often arbitrary.
Tesla raises prices for fully autonomous driving again
For the second time this year, Tesla is raising the price of its full autonomous driving (FSD) capabilities. Elon Musk recently tweeted that the total amount of this driver assistance software will increase to $15,000 starting September 5th. The automaker will honor the current $12,000 rate for orders placed prior to that date, but will deliver those vehicles at a later date.

“Please note that through the Tesla app, you can give your car an FSD in 2 minutes,” Elon Musk added. The multibillionaire did not say if Tesla would raise the price of FSD’s subscription. Depending on the current capabilities of your Tesla Autopilot, adding the software to your vehicle can cost up to $199 per month.
And it’s probably not over yet
Tesla often raises prices. The functionality of full self-driving in recent years is no exception. When the company first started offering it separately from the Autopilot, it cost $5,000 up front or $7,000 upon delivery. At the beginning of the year, the price of the FSD option rose from $10,000 to $12,000. Elon Musk previously announced that Tesla would raise the price again last July, saying the software was “ridiculously low”at $12,000 and that the raise would make a difference between Tesla “which costs a lot of money, and Tesla which practically worth nothing.”
