Killer: John Woo is preparing a remake

French comedian Omar Sy will star in a remake of the acclaimed Hong Kong action movie written and directed by John Woo.

Matthew Stucken and Josh Campbell (10 Cloverfield Lane) have written the new script for The Killer, along with Eran Creevey (Welcome to Impact, Crash) and Brian Helgeland (Legend, 42). Sarah Scott, senior vice president of production development at Universal Pictures, and Jacqueline Garrell, head of creative development, are overseeing the project. John Woo (Crossroads, Manhunt, Silent Night) is directing and producing with longtime partner Laurie Tilkin.

Remake of “Killer for the Peacock”with Omar Sy

In the Hong Kong classic, frustrated killer Ah Jeong (Chow Yun-Fat) agrees to one last contract, hoping to use his winnings to restore sight to singer Jenny (Sally Ye), whom he accidentally gave back to the blind. Plot details for this reimagining have not been revealed, but it is one of three original Universal Pictures films scheduled to premiere on streaming platform Peacock in 2023.
