Hands up, who loves iPhone wallpapers?
Everyone loves to personalize their iPhone with unique wallpapers. Now people usually set photos of their pets and children as iPhone wallpaper to remind them of their loved ones every time they use their phones. In addition, you have people who are more fond of exquisite wallpapers, such as various high-quality color gradients, nature photos, space images, and the like.
For many years our very own Jim Gresham (@jim_gresham) has curated amazing wallpapers created by various designers and enthusiasts. You can browse our wallpaper collections which cover a wide range of categories in our Wallpapers section. However, we want to help you find even better backgrounds for your mobile and desktop devices like iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Where to Find the Best iPhone Wallpapers
That’s why we asked our videographer Michael Billig (@michael_billig) to create a short video to tell you boys and girls where to find the best wallpaper sources for your iPhone and other Apple devices. In addition to our own collections, Michael’s video also talks about two apps that provide thousands of images for free.
One called Screensavers [ App Store link ] is available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac and highlights newly created backgrounds, allowing you to view exclusive collections that are constantly updated with new designs.
The other, called Vellum [ App Store link ], is a collection of specially curated wallpapers that you won’t find anywhere else. What’s great about this app is its tools designed to allow anyone to create their own unique background styles. For example, you can easily create a blurred background or blur one of your existing wallpapers with Vellum without using any other apps.
iOS 16 is all about personalization.
iPhone wallpapers will become even more popular with users when the iOS 16 software update is released this fall. With iOS 16, Apple has turned the normally boring lock screen into a personalization playground.
You can create multiple lock screens, each with their own wallpaper, or quickly create some pretty drastic looks using Apple’s built-in tools. For example, one of the features allows you to create wallpapers with your favorite emojis. Read: How to create a blank iPhone home screen without apps
Apple also provides curated collections of wallpapers and Siri smart surface suggestions from your photo library. iOS 16 also creates a depth effect by placing the current time behind the subject of your wallpaper photo.
For example, if you put a photo of your youngest on the lock screen, the current date and time will be displayed behind the child’s head and hair, but in front of the background.
