The recent release of Overwatch 2 features many unique and recurring characters from its predecessor. One recurring character that has undergone massive changes is Junkrat. But some players can’t get big numbers on the leaderboard with his character. Don’t worry, check out our guide to learn how to play Junkrat in Overwatch 2.

How to play Junkrat in Overwatch 2 (tips and strategies)

Before we dive into Junkrat’s playstyle, you need to unlock him in Overwatch 2. You can unlock this character by completing the tutorial and completing 12 unranked matches. So, here are some important tips and strategies for playing Junkrat:

  • Junkrat can set up several traps that explode when players try to sneak up on him. His Steel Trap ability traps enemies, dealing 100 damage and immobilizing them for 3 seconds.
  • You can use this ability to get kills even if you are eliminated. All you have to do is place these traps remotely in different locations.
  • We suggest placing these traps in places where players will be forced to either enter them or destroy them.
  • His other ability is Concussion Mine, which can also be used as a trap to damage your opponents.
  • While he can’t take any damage from these mines, he can use them to charge high ground or fly away.
  • This ability can also be used to knock back your opponents or push them away from the arena.
  • Unlike the steel trap, these mines are less visible as they are sunk below the surface. Thus, you can use this ability to surprise your opponents.
  • You can also try a combination of Stun Mine and Steel Trap to deal some serious damage. Can potentially kill characters with 200 HP.
  • Speaking of ultimate abilities, RIP-Tire, you can temporarily control an explosive tire. Now you can control this tire until it is destroyed or blown up.
  • Unlike the ultimate abilities of other characters, we suggest making the most of Junkrat’s ultimate.
  • Due to the loud engine, other players can detect this ultimate from afar. Therefore, we suggest not pointing it directly at enemies. You can aim it to the side or behind your enemies to sneak attack them.

So you can use Junkrat as a great defender or DPS character. But it all depends on your suitable play style.

This is all about how to play Junkrat in Overwatch 2.
