Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life simulation style adventure RPG set in the world of Dreamlight Valley where you can find and interact with your favorite Disney characters. During your initial adventure, you can obtain Royal Tools, including a shovel, pickaxe, watering can, and fishing rod. These tools are all you need to progress through the game. However, there are parts of the map that are blocked by elements such as Coral, Ice, and Mystic Mushroom. Now these elements cannot be broken by basic Royal Instruments. You need to upgrade them by completing something known as a friendship quest. In this guide, we will discuss everything you need to know about how to upgrade your tools in Disney Dreamlight Valley by completing friendship quests.
How to Improve Your Royal Instruments in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Now, in order to improve your tools, you will need to complete a set of friendship quests for a specific character. In order for them to assign quests to you, you need to travel to their specific Realm and take them with you to the Valley. All this while completing other required side quests. There are a total of four upgrades available for your Royal Instruments. Follow these steps to get all four of these updates:
Pickaxe Upgrades
Disney Dreamlight Valley has two sets of pickaxe upgrades. The base form of this Royal Tool is limited to mining only. You can upgrade it to be able to break ice crystals and large corals.
- Ice Upgrade: You can get this upgrade by completing friendship quests assigned by Elsa in the Ice Realm. The final quest “Breaking Ice”will give your pickaxe the ability to break ice crystals. This unlocks the Forest of Valor and Frost Heights regions.
- Coral Upgrade: You can get this upgrade by completing friendship quests assigned by Mauri in the Moana Realm. The last quest in this case gives your pickaxe the ability to smash large coral blocks. This opens up access to the Dazzle Beach area.
It is important to remember that in order to unlock the final quests to upgrade the pickaxe, you need to reach level 4 friendship with both Elsa and Maury.
Shovel Upgrades
The shovel tool can be upgraded to clear tree stumps in Disney Dreamlight Valley. When the stumps are destroyed, valuable hardwood can fall out. To get this upgrade, you need to complete the friendship quests assigned by Anna in the Ice Realm. This upgrade is pretty easy to get since Anna doesn’t have many quests. By completing these quests, you will be able to remove unattractive stumps from the ground, which was previously impossible.
Watering can update
The Watering Can tool can be upgraded to remove Mystic Mushrooms. You can get this upgrade by completing Merlin’s friendship quests. You will eventually receive the quest The Last Test, which gives your watering can the ability to purify mystical mushrooms. This opens access to the Glade of Trust region. You will also receive the wizard’s hat after completing Merlin’s last quest.
Fishing rod
At the time of this writing, we found that there are no fishing rod upgrades in Disney Dreamlight Valley. We will announce any future patches to the game.
