Roblox introduced a desktop app, and unfortunately, it received negative feedback from the community. Once you go to Roblox.com, you will see a message saying “Explore Roblox on our desktop app”with an “OPEN”button next to it. The app itself has a different user interface, but if you don’t like it and want to know how to disable it on PC, follow these simple steps.
How to Disable Roblox Desktop App on Windows PC
After the update, when you try to exit a Roblox game, the desktop app loads automatically, which can be annoying for some players. This can be disabled in two ways, and both of them work at the time of this guide’s publication.
Close Roblox from the taskbar
- Launch Roblox on your PC as you normally would (without launching the desktop app) and launch the experience you like.
- Now hover over the Roblox icon on the taskbar. If you are playing the game in full screen mode, press the Windows key to see the Roblox icon on the taskbar.
- Right-click it and choose Close Window.
- Once you close the window with these steps, the desktop application will not automatically load.
Run Roblox Player as Administrator
- Whenever you grant an application access to the “Run as administrator”feature, you are giving it all special permissions to run on your system.
- So, right-click on the Roblox player icon on your desktop and select “Run as administrator”.
- Roblox will configure and install, after which you need to click OK.
- Now launch Roblox and exit it by pressing ESC and then pressing Exit.
- After that, you should see your regular Roblox.com user interface instead of the desktop app.
It’s all about disabling the desktop app. It is not preferred by many due to missing features and lagging issues. If you change your mind and want to use the app later, you can simply tap the OPEN button in the notification at the top of the screen. This will be visible as soon as you log into your account.
