Are you tired of Instagram notifying you of new videos shared by someone else? It’s no secret that Instagram does this to encourage you to open their app and spend time there. But in most cases, these new clips that have recently been shared may not be interesting and certainly not worthy of a notification sent to your iPhone.
To fix this problem, you can easily turn off Instagram notifications for new shared videos.
Disable All New Instagram Reels Notifications on iPhone
1) Open the Instagram app and tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner to go to your profile.
2) From here, tap on the icon with three lines on top and select “Settings”.
3) Select Notifications.
4) You can now pause all push notifications for up to 8 hours. Or, to permanently disable all Reels notifications, click Live and Reels.
5) Select “Off”for recently loaded drums.
That’s all! From now on, Instagram should not send you notifications about new videos that other people have shared. That’s one less unwanted alert on your iPhone. The process for turning off new Reels notifications on Android is pretty much the same.
Stop notification of new reels only for someone you follow on Instagram
Do you get a notification when a certain person you follow on Instagram uploads a video? If so, it’s because you have chosen to be notified of all new videos posted by this account. Here’s how to stop receiving new video notifications from a specific person or account:
1) Log into the person’s Instagram account. You can do this by searching for their name.
2) Once you are on their profile page, tap the bell icon in the top right corner and turn off the reel notification.
Tip: You can also go to your profile, click Follows (to see all the accounts you follow) and find the person whose reel notification you no longer want to receive. Then tap the three dots next to their name > Manage notifications and turn off the toggle for reels.
Set up Instagram notifications for silent delivery on iPhone
Unlike turning off notifications from the Instagram app, you can also manage them in your iPhone’s notification settings.
You have the option to turn off all notifications at the iOS system level. But with this approach, you’ll miss out on things like Instagram direct messages, new follow requests, and other helpful notifications.
Therefore, the best option is to set up silent delivery of Instagram notifications to your iPhone. In this case, you will receive all notifications, but they will be silently accumulated in the Notification Center, which you can view at your convenience. In other words, when a new Instagram notification arrives, you won’t be alerted by sound, banner, vibration, or display backlight.
