If you are a strategist who likes to understand all aspects of the game, then the spectator option is just right for you. Observation can help you understand characters, learn new moves, or simply enjoy the gameplay. It’s always exciting to watch players get their hands on an insane clutch. With the launch of Overwatch 2, the urge to just watch the gameplay is understandable. In this article, we will guide you on how to watch in Overwatch 2.

How to spectate in Overwatch 2

The Spectator option in Overwatch 2 allows you to watch your friends play. Now, if you are already in the game, you can briefly spectate your teammates when you die in a round. Although, if you just want to watch the game, there are two ways to do it: Custom Game and Watch Friends.

Custom game

To watch a custom OW2 game:

  • Just click “Play”
  • Go to custom games
  • Create a new game or join an already started game.
  • At the bottom you will see two Spectator slots.
  • If you have created a game, move the players and enter the spectator slot.

When you join as a spectator, you can view the entire map and the statistics of all players. This option is useful if you want to study maps and work on strategies. You also have the option to track a single player. To do this, focus on that player and press the right mouse button.

Watch your friends

To follow your friends who are already in a match in Overwatch 2:

  • Open your friends list
  • Right click on your friend’s name
  • Click on Watch

You can watch the POV of everyone on your friend’s team. Please note that you cannot spectate your friend if they are in competitive mode. This is done to ensure fair play. By watching the players, you can better understand how the game works. We hope this article has helped you understand how to spectate in Overwatch 2.
