Pogo is a TrollStore installer for Procursus and Sileo based on checkm8 for iOS 15 developers.

A recently released utility called Pogo from iOS developer elihwyma is sure to grab a few people’s attention this weekend, but what is it and should you rush in line to install it?

Depending on where you get the information from, you may read that Pogo is a jailbreak or that it is not a jailbreak. On the project’s GitHub page, the developer writes “this is not a jailbreak”in black and white, but if you watch the Sileo & Odyssey Team Discord channel, you can see Aaron 23 saying “this is the first public jailbreak.”utility for iOS 15, but requires checkm8 to work.”

Our position is that Pogo is somewhere in between and not for everyone.

Pogo allows those with a device vulnerable to the checkm8 exploit to install the Procursus workloader along with the Sileo package manager. In theory, this should allow you to install jailbreak tweaks, but it’s important to remember that currently no jailbreak tweaks support unrooted dynamics on iOS or iPadOS 15, hence the delays affecting the upcoming Cheyote jailbreak for iOS and iPadOS 15.0, which is being developed. by the Odyssey Team. -15.1.1.

This means that while Pogo users can use the no-root jailbreak tweaks for iOS and iPadOS 15, none of them are available to use or try out yet. However, you will be able to view packages and repositories in the Sileo Package Manager application. Pogo users should also be able to install apps. deb manually, as long as they support dynamic without root.

The Pogo GitHub page readme is clear: this project is only for “developers to tinker with”. This statement should ultimately keep regular users from wanting to try it, but if you want further explanation as to why regular users shouldn’t even blink an eye, it requires a lot of customization on the part of the end user via developer tools like Xcode, which you may or may not have the skills to perform.

Since Pogo uses the checkm8 bootloader exploit, you need a device that is vulnerable to checkm8. Normally, this would mean that any device is equipped with an A7-A11 chip, however, only A9-A11 devices can run iOS or iPadOS 15, which means Pogo only supports the latter. Devices with supported chips must include:

  • iPod touch (7th generation)
  • iPhone 6s
  • iphone 6s plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iphone 7 plus
  • iPhone 8
  • iphone 8 plus
  • iphone x
  • iPhone SE (1st generation)
  • iPad (5th generation)
  • iPad (6th generation)
  • iPad (7th generation)
  • iPad Pro 9.7″(2016)
  • iPad Pro 10-5″(2017)
  • iPad Pro 12.9″(2015)
  • iPad Pro 12.9″(2nd generation)

Assuming you meet the above criteria, you will need to boot your device with a modified kernel that disables AppleMobileFileIntegrity (amfi), then open Pogo with the TrollStore and use the “Install”button in the Pogo app.

If you want to learn more about Pogo, you can go to the Pogo project page on GitHub. But keep in mind that since Pogo is developer-only, you probably won’t be able to use it for anything and must keep waiting for the release of a handy iOS and iPadOS 15 jailbreak tool.
