Splatoon 3 Tricolor matches not working Problem: how to fix?

The recent release of Splatoon 3 contains a lot of new content. One of them includes Tricolor Battles, which are the newest addition to the Splatoon franchise. You can only play this mode during Splatfest events. But unfortunately, many players in the community cannot play this game mode. When players select this mode, they are placed in normal Table Turf matches despite not selecting them. But what is the root cause of this problem? Check out our guide to learn all about tricolor battles that don’t work in Splatoon 3.

Why tricolor battles don’t work in Splatoon 3

The main reason why Tricolor Battles are not working is due to the recent patch 1.1.1 update for Splatoon 3. According to the latest patch update, the frequency of Tricolor Battles has been adjusted. Due to these changes, from the point of view of the defending player, these matches will start somewhat less frequently. Here is a tweet from the official Splatoon 3 account (link):

At the moment, you will be thrown into Table Turf matches more often than Tricolor Battle matches. The patch notes also mention that this frequency and adjustments are temporary. And these matchmaking problems will be fixed. As stated in the patch, they plan to fix these changes/adjustments in the upcoming season in December.

In my opinion, it could have been better if Tricolor battles were not an option, and not a reduced rate. I hope the new season will solve these problems, as promised. In the meantime, you can check out our guide on what Tricolor Battles are and how to join them for more information.

That’s all for tricolor battles that don’t work in Splatoon 3.
