The battery monitoring tweak DrainCheck has been completely rewritten and redesigned in Swift.

iPhone users take battery drain very seriously, which is one of the reasons iDB previously showed our readers a jailbreak tweak called DrainCheck from iOS developer Ginsu.

DrainCheck monitors battery drain under certain circumstances, such as when you use Do Not Disturb while sleeping or after switching to power saving mode. It then generates a report so you can see how much battery you are wasting during that time.

Just over the weekend, DrainCheck received a major update to version 3.0. Not only has the tweak been completely rewritten in Swift, but it has also received a great redesign with the help of graphic designer @bank5ia, the same person who brought us the awesome Sydney jailbreak tweak to customize the content of the native Apple Wallet app.

We don’t review previously posted content very often, but the latest update looks and feels like a brand new jailbreak tweak that needs to be reviewed again.

In this redesign, users can see a more aesthetically pleasing report indicating battery drain between individual time periods. For example, in the screenshot below, you can see that the battery drained by 2% in 12 minutes and 53 seconds between 17:27 and 17:40:

When you get to the DrainCheck setup, you will have the option to select the trigger that starts the battery monitoring and turn the setting on or off on demand.

Automatic monitoring may work in the following cases:

  • Never
  • When Do Not Disturb is turned on
  • When power save mode is activated

Once you’ve made your changes, you’ll use the checkmark in the top right corner of the app to save them and reboot your device.

If your phone is suffering from inexplicable battery drain, you can use the DrainCheck jailbreak setting to better understand the problem. The tweak is available for free in Ginsu’s personal repository and supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices.

If you are not already using the Ginsu repository, you can add it to your favorite package manager application at the following URL:
