If you are watching any regular video on the YouTube app, a progress bar will appear at the bottom of the video player showing your video progress in real time. For some reason, the same cannot be said for the YouTube shorts.

iOS developer PoomSmart decided to change this by releasing a free jailbreak called YTShortsProgress, which adds a missing progress bar to Shorts when played through the YouTube app.
In the before (left) and after (right) screenshot examples above, you can see how natural the Shorts progress bar provided by YTShortsProgress looks. In fact, it doesn’t even look like it was included in the jailbreak tweak.
The added convenience of a progress bar means you can estimate the length of a Shorts clip and have a point of reference related to where you are in the video as you watch it; no longer be in the dark about this information.
If you’re a frequent user of the YouTube app, or more specifically its Shorts feature, you should try the new YTShortsProgress setting. It is available as a free download from PoomSmart’s personal repository and supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices with the latest version of the YouTube app, which is 17.38.9 at the time of this writing.
