Apple Mac: How to find the apps that drain your battery the most

Mac, like any computer, requires power to function. Apps consume its battery. How do you know which ones consume the most?

The battery life of your Mac depends on a large number of parameters, including ambient temperature. However, most of the consumption is directly related to the software, more specifically the applications running on your computer. If you keep your MacBook plugged in all the time, battery life doesn’t matter much to you, but if you frequently use your Mac away from a power outlet, it might. And that means knowing which apps are consuming the most power.

Not all apps are created equal, which means they consume battery differently. A note-taking app probably won’t use as much as a video editing app, for example. But instead of guessing, there’s a quick way to find out which apps are consuming the most power on a Mac. Here’s how to check it.

Quickly find out which apps are consuming the most resources on Mac

You can have a list of apps that drain your battery the most and it only takes one click.

In the menu bar at the top of your Mac screen, you should see a battery icon in the top right corner. Click on this battery icon to display a small menu that lists applications with so-called “high power consumption”.

If a pop-up app appears that you’re not currently using, close it to save battery life. To do this, go back to the Dock, right-click the app in question, and click Exit.

Of course, you won’t be able to do this in your web browser or any other app you use all the time, but if the app in question is just sitting around doing nothing, it’s best to close and reopen it when you need to. this or when you are online. This not only saves battery power, but also makes your computer run smoother, especially if you have many applications open at the same time.
