You can defeat the Berserker King Hrolf by draining his health and using your Draupnir Spear when he gains an improved life bar. Other weapons work equally well, but this is what is recommended for this fight. Here are the moves he uses and how you can counter them:

  • Hammer Strike: King Hrolf raises his hammer and slams it into the ground. You will see how he prepares an attack, so you will have a few seconds to run away from her. You must block this attack because if it hits you will easily lose about 1/3 of your health.
  • Jump Kick: King Hrolf jumps and slams his two hammers on the ground in an attempt to smash Kratos. This attack has red rings to indicate. So make sure you dodge it to dodge it.
  • Hammer Strike: Hrolf steps back and then charges quickly, striking with a hammer. This attack is also marked with red rings, so you should dodge it in order to dodge properly.
  • Hammer Attack: King Hrolf takes two maces with both hands and starts charging them. This attack has a blue indication. So quickly dash at him and press L1 twice to interrupt his charge and attack him.
  • Ice Projectiles: He jumps into the air and fires three homing ice projectiles at Kratos. This attack is also unblockable, so you should dodge it to avoid being hit by it.
  • Punches: This is a standard attack. King Hrolf tries to hit Kratos several times. You can parry this attack.
  • Ice Ball: This is a slow projectile that King Hrolf throws at Kratos. You can destroy it using your Leviathan Axe. It can deal a lot of damage to you if you don’t dodge or break in time.

These are basically all the moves he uses in combat. When his health reaches half, he turns gray and gains an Enhanced Life bar. You need to chip him away until he returns to his normal health.
