  1. On a Mac, click Apple menu  → System Preferences.
  2. Scroll and click Users & Groups → Add Account.

  4. Fill in the required details → click “Create User”.

You can choose between “Administrator”, “Standard”or “Shared”by changing the options available in the “New Account”drop-down list.

To allow a user with administrative properties, you need to click the (i) button and enable Allow this user to control this computer.

Once you enable this feature, you will get a pop-up asking you to restart.

On macOS Monterey

  1. On a Mac, choose Apple menu  → System Preferences.
  2. Go to Users and Groups.
  3. Click the lock icon.
  4. Enter your credentials and click Unblock.
  5. Click the (+) icon.
  6. Fill in the required details → select “Create User”.

You can view the newly created user in the “Other Users”area.

You can also select the Allow a user to control this computer check box if you want to give this account administrative rights. And for that, you will be prompted to restart your Mac.

  3. Select “Group”from the “New Account”drop-down list.
  4. Give the full name of the group → click “Create Group”.
  5. In the Membership section, check the box next to the users you want to add to the group.
