Minecraft: how to repair tools

Minecraft has a variety of weapons, tools, and items that you can add to your gear. But when you use this equipment or tools, their durability and stats also decrease. To prevent this from happening, you need to repair these tools. Some players are unable to repair these tools or equipment. But how to do that? Check out our guide to repairing tools in Minecraft.

How to fix your tools in Minecraft

In total, there are three ways to repair your tools and equipment in Minecraft. So, here are all the ways to repair your tools:

  • Anvil
  • Workbench or whetstone
  • Enchantment Fix

Let’s look at all three of these methods in more detail:

Workbench or whetstone

This method involves repairing items by placing two damaged items. All you have to do is put the tool you want to repair on the workbench. Then place a tool of the same type on the crafting grid. At the same time, its strength or characteristics also increase. But there is only one downside to repairing your tools with a workbench or whetstone. This will remove all spells. But note that if you use a whetstone, it won’t remove curses placed on the tool.

Anvil

If you want to keep your enchantments, you can use an anvil to repair tools and equipment. But this method will require four iron ingots and three iron blocks. All you have to do is place the same type of tool and the damaged tool in the anvil. Unlike the previous method, you won’t lose any enchantments. A damaged tool can also receive new enchantments from other tools using an anvil. Alternatively, your repaired tool can also get a higher enchantment value if they both have the same enchantment. But since you use an anvil to repair the same items, its enchant cost will also increase next time.

Lastly, you can also use Mending enchantments to repair your tools in Minecraft. As you enchant a damaged tool, your other stats and durability also increase. But in order to do this, you first need to find the Mending Enchantment. Since this is a type of Treasure enchantment, you can find it in Stronghold Chests, Jungle Temples, Raids, and Fishing. In addition, you can also trade them with a librarian of any level.
