Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to Beat Elite Four Larry

Every Pokemon game has Elite Four trainers, and Scarlet & Violet is no exception. These are the coolest trainers in Paldea and you have to beat them consecutively to challenge the champion. After defeating Poppy, you will once again face Larry, the Gym Leader of the Normal Type Medal. But this time, he will bring out his flying-type Pokémon, which are at level 59-60. If you’re having trouble beating him, look no further. In this article, we will guide you on how to beat Elite Four Larry in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Beat Elite Four Larry in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Each of Larry’s Pokémon in this battle is a dual type. So you need to be careful with your choice of Pokémon and your strategy against it. Luckily, after each battle, you can change the Pokémon in your party. Here is a list of Larry’s team and their weaknesses.

  • Tropius (Lvl 59) – A grass/flying type with a weakness to fire, flight, ice, poison, and stone. Ice-type moves deal 4x the damage, so you can land one hit with Ice-Beam.
  • Staraptor (Lv. 59) is a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon that is weak against Electric, Ice, and Rock-type attacks.
  • Altaria (Lv. 59) is a dragon/flying type with a weakness to fairy, dragon, ice, and stone moves. As with Tropius, you can also kill this Pokemon in one hit with an ice-type move like Ice-Beam.
  • Orikorio (Lvl 59) is an Electric/Flying type Pokémon. It is weak against Rock and Ice attacks.
  • Flamigo (Lv. 60) is Larry’s last Pokémon, which is a fighting/flying dual type. However, it will immediately transform into a flying type. This Pokémon is weak to Ice, Rock, and Electric-type moves.

As you must have noticed, every Larry Pokémon is weak against Ice-type attacks. So Dragonite who knows Ice-Beam can help you beat him easily. Using a strong stone type like Garganacle can also work. But be careful with Tropius and Flamigo as he is weak against Grass and Fighting Moves. Another thing to keep in mind is to use held items on each Pokémon. Many trainers ignore this, but it can make a big difference in a fight. Items like the Quick Claw can let you attack first, and the Muscle Band can boost your physical moves.
