The developer demonstrates the implementation of tweaks in iOS 15.0-15.1.1 for devices A12-A15

Progress in the jailbreak community seems to have taken off after Twitter user and iOS developer @xina520 tweeted images of what appears to work for devices equipped with A12-A15 chips and running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.1. 1 .

In the images, we see what looks like a phone customized with various modifications, including a color-coded status bar and five icons in the home screen dock, among other home screen-focused modifications. We also see what looks like a custom jailbreak app.

Looking back at previous tweets shared by @xina520, it appears that the developer has been fiddling around with iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 in an attempt to develop a jailbreak that supports devices without checkm8, namely those newer than the iPhone X and with an A12 chip or newer inside. The latest development appears to be one of the significant advances.

As you may remember, the Odyssey team led by jailbreak developer CoolStar has not yet released a non-rooted Cheyote jailbreak for iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 because jailbreak tweaks don’t work. This is because none of the frameworks that allow you to run jailbreak tweaks have been updated for these non-rooted firmware or speaker versions.

Knowing all this, palera1n’s developer-focused jailbreak for checkm8 devices on iOS and iPadOS 15 (varieties A9-A11) supports the implementation of tweaks on iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.3.1. In a recent tweet, the team mentioned that the implementation of tweaks might come in newer firmware versions, but without any ETA to support it.

Obviously, the implementation of tweaks is one of the biggest hurdles affecting the state of any iOS or iPadOS 15 jailbreak today, so what we’re seeing from @xina520 looks promising. Since the jailbreak and the associated tweak injection support new devices without checkm8 support, this will be the first of its kind.

Obviously the tweak injection is in the early stages of development, so while it exists, it hasn’t been released to the general public. Instead, it is provided to developers for internal testing purposes only. Some issues have already been identified that need to be addressed before a much larger test group can be authorized.

Whether or not @xina520 will eventually release their iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 jailbreak with tweaks to A12-A15 phones remains to be seen, but given the stagnation, the community felt it was stuck lately, we will accept any moving forward as a victory.
