As Kratos and his companions travel through the Nine Realms, they will face many threats and enemies. These include powerful mythological characters such as Odin, Thor and others. But you will also encounter primal magic and rogue creatures. One of them involves Frost Phantom, which can be problematic if not intervened with the right strategy. So, check out our boss guide on how to defeat the Frost Phantom in God of War Ragnarok.
How to beat Frost Phantom in God of War Ragnarok
You can encounter Frost Phantom while doing optional side quests in GoW Ragnarok. Freya will also be by your side during this boss fight. So don’t forget to use her seal arrows against the boss. Unlike other bosses, you need to build their stun meter before you can damage them. You will find a stun meter under their health bar. After you have built and filled the meter, destroy the purple runes or pillars around. This will spontaneously deplete their HP meter with two health bars.
His HP meter is divided into three health bars. While he doesn’t have a solid form, he does have a few attacks that shouldn’t be taken lightly. So, here is how you can defeat the Frost Phantom in God of War Ragnarok:
- As mentioned earlier, you need to fill up their stun meter in order to damage them.
- The key to filling up the stun meter is to keep attacking its core. You can throw the Leviathan Ax directly into its core to hit it. Although Frost Phantom only stuns for a short time, you can constantly remember Leviathan’s axe.
- Once the stun meter fills up, you need to destroy the purple pillars or runes. You can find these pillars all over the boss fight.
- You will have enough time to destroy them before the Phantom returns.
- Some of the Phantom’s attacks can be relentless. While some of them can be blocked, most of them are unblockable attacks.
- So, keep in mind that you need to recognize the attacks of the red and double blue rings, as well as counter them.
- In addition, Frost Phantom also has a set of AoE attacks in GoW Ragnarok. Instead of being parried or dodged, such attacks would have to get out of the way.
- When the odds are against Kratos, you can use Spartan Fury to balance.
- Speaking of their AoE attacks, take a look at their Slam attack. During this attack, they can break and go underground, creating a shock wave.
- You can dodge this attack by looking at the glowing red circles around you.
- Frost Phantom can also close the distance by going underground and appearing out of nowhere. We recommend keeping a distance between them to avoid direct impact or damage.
- You have to be careful with the explosive attack that covers a large area of effect (AoE). When they land this attack, they eject several orbs from the ground. And these spheres will also have an area of effect, indicated by glowing circles.
- So try not to stand in these circles. All you have to repeat is fill up the stun meter and deal damage to the purple runes.
In total, you have to destroy three Purple Pillars or Runes. Once you deplete their health bar, you need to press R3 to end the fight. After the cutscene starts, this boss will drop several rewards. You can get Jewel of Yggdrasil, Healthstone, Honed metal, Bonded Leather, Stonewood, Dwarven Steel, Ragestone and Shattered Runes as loot.
That’s it for how to beat Frost Phantom in God of War Ragnarok.
