Valve’s online store, Steam, has been growing for a while, but exponentially over the course of two years when the coronavirus (COVID-19) blew the numbers up in big waves. While it’s impossible to tell without careful study, these gaming habits persist for some gamers for much longer than expected. Steam’s rapid growth in recent years far exceeds its past growth. By comparison, it took Steam 14 years to reach a peak of 15 million concurrent users in 2017, and only 5 years for the next 15 million.
