Tesla is issuing another vehicle recall in the United States. 310,000 Model 3 and Model Y may be affected by a problem with the taillights.
Tesla is currently recalling over 321,000 vehicles due to a software issue that is causing some vehicles’ taillights to not work properly. The automaker announced the measures this weekend through a National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) filing disclosed by Reuters. This recall is for the 2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y built for US customers.

“In some rare cases, taillights on one or both sides of affected vehicles may intermittently illuminate due to an anomaly in the firmware, which can lead to a false detection of a malfunction when the vehicle is in alarm mode,” the NHTSA document says. “The brake lights, reversing lights and turn signals are not affected by this issue and work as advertised.”
310,000 Model 3 and Model Y may be affected by a problem with the taillights.
Tesla will release a software update very soon to fix this issue. The company has not been informed of any accidents or injuries related to this error. The manufacturer became aware of this problem at the end of October. In a separate announcement the day before, Tesla recalled about 30,000 vehicles due to an issue with front passenger airbag deployment in some X models.
This year alone, Tesla has already recalled 19 vehicles in the US. A few weeks ago, the company recalled 40,186 Model S and Model X models due to a software issue that could disable power steering assistance for cars driving over potholes. Prior to this, the manufacturer recalled more than a million vehicles due to the fact that the power windows did not work properly.
