Ubisoft will offer games on Steam again, starting with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Ubisoft will bring games back to Steam almost four years after turning to the Epic Games Store and its own Connect launcher. The first game to hit the Valve platform will be none other than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, launching on December 6th. Anno 1800 strategy game and free-to-play Roller Champions will follow later.
Ubisoft will offer games on Steam again
“We are constantly evaluating how to deliver our games to our diverse audiences, wherever they are, while ensuring a cohesive ecosystem through Ubisoft Connect,” said a Ubisoft Eurogamer spokesperson. “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800 and Roller Champions are among the Ubisoft games coming to Steam.”
As such, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will hit Steam when Ubisoft releases the latest content update for the game. However, Ubisoft confirmed that it would not be adding a New Game+ mode, “realizing that the game’s depth leaves us with limited options to make replay value unique and rewarding.”

Ubisoft has previously said that moving away from Steam was a business decision. This allowed The Division 2 pre-orders to be six times higher in the Ubisoft store (which doesn’t have to pay Valve’s 30% commission there). However, it seems that the reach and popularity of Steam today is too hard to ignore. Ubisoft is also likely looking at the Valve platform as a way to access the Steam deck more easily.
It’s hard to say exactly which games from Ubisoft’s catalog will be offered on Steam, but it’s good for gamers, especially those who don’t like dealing with multiple launchers.
