Palace: Kate Winslet will return to HBO

Two years after Mare of Easttown, British actress Kate Winslet will soon star in the television series The Palace.

Directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen, The Lost King, Royal Confidence) and Jessica Hobbs (The Crown, Divided, All Saints) for HBO. The Palace tells the story of a year spent within the walls of an authoritarian regime palace as it begins to deteriorate. Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallien, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton and Hugh Grant will star in the series, which is filmed in Australia, while Will Tracey (Menu, Succession) will write, executive produce and showrunner. Part of the filming will also take place in the UK.

HBO invites famous authors for The Palace

A team of writers including Seth Reiss, Late Night with Seth Meyers screenwriter and former The Onion editor Julie Weiner, who wrote for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Jen Spira, who wrote for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Gary Steingart, who wrote for the New Yorker and is the author of The Russian Debutante Handbook, and Sarah DeLap, who wrote the screenplay for the horror film Bodies, Bodies, Pete Davidson’s Bodies, is directing the script for the television series The Palace.
