AccelByte will help Sony Interactive Entertainment for gaming services

In an effort to accelerate its ambitions for multiplayer gaming and gaming services, Sony Interactive Entertainment is investing in AccelByte.

Last February, CFO Hiroki Totoki told Sony Group Corporation shareholders that a dozen game services should be available on PS5 and PS4 by March 2026 to complete the offering of the PlayStation brand, which already excels in big-budget narrative games.

So after partnering with Firewalk Studios and Deviation Games, acquiring Bungie and Haven, and hiring for multiplayer at Naughty Dog, London Studio and Insomniac Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment subsidiary decided to invest several million dollars in AccelByte. This platform allows you to create, develop and manage gaming services across the entire gaming experience, including lobbies, friends, matchmaking, cloud progression, achievements, season pass, launcher, and more.

“Creating huge and expansive online worlds requires creators to have a solid technical infrastructure to realize their vision. AccelByte has a proven track record of providing game developers with a rich and robust platform that helps accelerate development and simplify server infrastructure operations for gaming services,” said Lin Tao, Senior Vice President of Finance, Development and Strategy, Sony Interactive Entertainment. “We look forward to AccelByte’s next development that will accelerate their roadmap to support many studios in the industry. ”

With AccelByte, the demand for support for gaming services is growing

This funding follows a $10 million Series A funding led by Galaxy Interactive in August 2021.
