Coloring the user interface is in the blood of jailbreakers. It’s one of the most famous ways to make a phone your own, to make it stand out from the plethora of plain color UIs, and now iOS developer ETHN is making it even easier with a free jailbreak tweak called AccentColor.
Once you install AccentColor, you can tint various aspects of the iOS user interface to your liking. The tweak adds a dedicated settings panel to the settings app where users can turn AccentColor on and off on demand and select all the different apps it will take effect in:
The tweak also adds a new setting to the default “Display & Brightness”preference pane in the Settings app, where you can choose your preferred accent color:
The color you choose here refers to a range of different interface elements you’ll find when using your iPhone, including:
- Navigation bar buttons
- Tab bar buttons
- Get Buttons in the App Store
- Adjustment knob rods
- And much more…
Colors are selected using a color picker with no predefined colors, allowing you to choose just about any base color you want or any color in between.
A similar color tint scheme is available on macOS computers, so the developer was trying to add some symmetry between platforms with this setting.
