Apple announces ‘Wonderlust’ event for September 12 to launch iPhone 15 & more

As many were waiting for the iPhone 15 launch date, Apple has finally announced the dates for its fall event. Today, Apple officially announced that it will host an event on September 12 wherein we are expecting the company to announce the new iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

The event carries the word ‘Wonderlust’ in the invite poster and also shows the Apple logo in dark blue and grey colors. These are the same colors that have been rumored to feature in iPhone 15 Pro models in Titanium finish.

Here’s what we are expecting Apple to launch at the event scheduled for September 12:

iPhone 15 series

Without any doubt, the headline of the event will be the iPhone 15 series. As expected, Apple will announce four new iPhone models – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. There are some rumors that Apple might name its top-end iPhone variant as iPhone 15 Ultra, but we will have to wait until the official announcement for confirmation.

The biggest change that is arriving to the iPhones this year is the new Titanium frame to Pro models. Apple is set to replace the stainless steel frame with a Titanium frame that will make the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max lighter in weight and visually more appealing.

Following the trend, the vanilla iPhone 15 models will retain last year’s A16 Bionic chip, whereas the two Pro models will be upgraded with the new A17 Bionic chipset, based on TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process. Apple is also planning a major camera upgrade this year. iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be equipped with a 48MP sensor, whereas the top-end variant will get the much-anticipated periscope lens this year.

If recent rumours are to be believed, Apple will also bring colour-matched, braided, and length USB-C to USB-C cables with the iPhone 15 series.

Apple Watch Series 9

Apple Watch Series 9 is expected at the fall event but there’s quite a less buzz around it as it will be modest upgrade. With no plans to change the design, Apple Watch Series 9 is expected to look similar to Series 8 but will be upgraded with a new chip. This could be the only addition we might see in the new Apple Watch.

While some rumours claim that Apple is planning to introduce a new type of watch band with a magnetic clasp, it would make more sense if the company brings it up with next year’s rumoured Apple Watch X.

Apple Watch Ultra 2

The next iteration of Ultra looks to be a modest upgrade at best. While there are no rumored features that we might see in the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple is expected to introduce a new darker color option this year.

Apple event is scheduled for September 12 at 10 AM PT or 1 PM ET. You can watch the iPhone 15 launch event at Apple’s official YouTube channel or Apple’s event page.
