Apple Fitness+ is coming to iPhone on October 24th. Along with the highly anticipated iOS 16.1.
Apple is not going to update the OS of its iPads and Macs next week. Apple has announced that Fitness+ will arrive on iPhone on October 24 along with system updates including iOS 16.1. You’ll need a smartphone to sign up, but the service will also be available via iPad and Apple TV. You also don’t necessarily need an Apple TV to view the stats on the big screen, as Roku AirPlay boxes will be able to display data for November.

You will also have access to the full range of fitness and meditation exercises through the appropriate tab in the Fitness app. The main limitation, as you might expect, is the accuracy of the system. While Apple Watch owners can rely on continuous heart rate monitoring to determine calories burned, Fitness+ iPhone users will only be eligible for an estimate. You may also need an Apple smartwatch for your user performance data. The Apple Watch is also handy if you want to take advantage of Time to Walk or Time to Run workouts without carrying your iPhone around.
There are also bonuses offered to those who test the service. You now have three free months of Fitness+ if you buy an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, not just an Apple Watch like before.
Together with the long-awaited iOS 16.1
iOS 16.1 also includes a number of changes beyond Fitness+ support. Expect an improved icon for remaining battery power, interactive actions like scores, shared iCloud Photo Library, per-app copy and paste permissions, and charging in a more energy-efficient environment. Many of the promises Apple made when introducing iOS 16 will come true in some way, no matter what device you use.
