Apple launches two new woven USB-C charging cables in 1 and 2-meter varieties

Apple just this week started selling two all-new USB-C charging cables on the company’s website, including a 1-meter 60W USB-C charging cable and a 2-meter 240W USB-C charging cable.

Both of these cables come in white and have a woven fabric jacket instead of Apple’s signature rubber jacket, but it’s also worth noting that the two cables are designed with charging in mind, as data transfers are capped at USB 2.0 rates of 480Mb/s.

These cables will work perfectly with virtually all of Apple’s USB-C-capable devices, including Mac notebooks, iPads, and now the all-new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups.

While the iPhone 15 & 15 Plus support USB-C data transfers at USB 2.0 speeds, iPhone 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max users will want to opt for Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 cable instead, as its capable of handling the full USB 3.2 Gen 1 10Gb/a transfer speeds of these devices — perfect for getting those large photo and video files on or off of your device in a jiffy.

It’s also worth mentioning that the 2-meter 240W cable is a bit overkill, as no Apple device currently draws this much power to charge. The highest power demand currently comes from Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro, which draws up to 140W of power when charging.

The 1-meter 60W woven USB-C cable retails for just $19 on Apple’s website and is in stock for purchase right now. The 2-meter 240W woven USB-C cable retails for $29, but isn’t quite in stock just yet — it will begin delivering as soon as next Tuesday.

For those on a budget, these cables are a great deal compared to Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 cables, but just keep in mind their speed constraints if you’re getting the iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max.
