Almost every year around this time, Apple hosts an iPhone event. The new iPhone and Watch models may not be the only new features that were officially unveiled during the Far Out event hosted by the Apple brand. After all, according to journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the American giant is also preparing to announce the second generation of AirPods Pro headphones.

“The new AirPods Pro will update the model first released in October 2019,” writes Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. “Last year I indicated that the new AirPods Pro would be coming in 2022, and today I was told that this is the Wednesday that their grand official launch will take place.

These AirPods Pro 2 have been rumored for several years now. In 2020, Mark Gurman wrote that Apple had tested a prototype with a more compact design that removed the “legs”now fully associated with the brand’s headphones. At one point, Apple apparently even considered adding sports-related features to them.

More recently, seemingly rumors have converged that these new AirPods Pro won’t offer a radically different design. Instead, they will just have a new generation H1 processor for even better sound quality and battery life. These headphones should also support the company’s lossless audio format and will benefit from a redesigned charging case offering significantly more efficient location capabilities.
