Apple Music Classical is now available worldwide. An Android version should be coming “soon”.
Apple Music Classical is now available for download worldwide with a catalog of over five million tracks. This new service, offered as part of an Apple Music subscription, was designed and intended to facilitate the exploration of classical music, whether by orchestras, conductors, musicians or others.

The app was created after Apple’s acquisition of Primephonic in 2021, and is still heavily based on the latter’s code. Apple Music Classical was originally scheduled to launch in late 2022, but earlier this month, the Cupertino-based company announced a new launch date: March 28.
We’re there today, and all iPhones running iOS 15.4 or later are eligible. The Android version is “coming soon”. As you’d expect, the app offers lossless sound quality at 192kHz/24bit with “thousands”of recordings made in spatial audio for those who want some serious immersion. The app also allows classical music lovers to search for biographies of composers, descriptions of some pieces, “detailed”manuals, and more. The search functionality has been rewritten for classical music queries and allows you to select from over 700 predefined playlists.

However, some items are missing from the main Apple Music app. First, Apple Music Voice Plan subscribers cannot use Classical. There’s also no native iPad app (yet) and it’s currently not possible to download music for offline listening. There are only four buttons on the navigation bar (Listen, Browse, Library, and Search): No radio. In addition, this new service should appeal to classical music lovers who are looking for products specific to this genre.
