Just yesterday, Apple released iOS and iPadOS 16.3, and it provided some insight into some of the UI changes users would expect to see if they had a HomePod or HomePod mini at home.
Apple released HomePod 16.3 firmware on Tuesday, which, as you might expect, goes hand in hand with yesterday’s iOS and iPadOS 16.3 software updates.

HomePod software version 16.3 includes support for new features for your HomePod. This update also includes bug fixes and stability improvements.
– Temperature and humidity sensors measure indoor climate with HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini – Updated ambient sounds are more immersive and can now be added to scenes, automations, and alarms in the Home app – Latitude is now available» on HomePod allows you to ask Siri to locate friends and family if they have shared it with you – Recurring home automations can be set using just your voice – A Siri confirmation tone will now play to indicate when smart home requests are completed for accessories, which may not visually change or are in a different room – Sound settings optimize conversational content, such as podcasts,for even greater clarity on HomePod (2nd gen) and HomePod (1st gen) – Updated volume controls on HomePod (1st gen) provide finer tuning at lower volumes
HomePod and HomePod mini users can update the software on their Apple smart speaker in two ways. The first is to wait for automatic software updates, which happens if you have automatic software updates enabled. If you don’t, you can install the update manually through the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
The latest HomePod software update came about a week after Apple released its new 2nd generation HomePod.
