Apple doesn’t want to create its own metaverse. His mixed reality devices will be simple tools for now.
Companies like Meta (formerly Facebook) are already envisioning a future metaverse where we could develop in virtual worlds using virtual and/or augmented reality devices. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown that it is possible to work and study at home, and the idea that we can meet our colleagues and classmates in the virtual world and “interact” with each other does not seem so crazy.
Apple doesn’t want to create its own metaverse
That said, while the concept is widely used today, not all companies, especially among tech giants, are necessarily ready to fully embrace the idea of a metaverse. Apparently, the company from Cupertino will be one of them. If the latest Power On newsletter from Mark Gurman is to be believed, the journalist claims that the Apple brand has already ruled out the possibility of creating its own metaverse.
His mixed reality devices will be simple tools for now.
Rumors have been circulating for months that the Cupertino-based company is working on its own mixed reality device. In fact, some were quick to wonder if Apple could go down the same path as Meta. That being said, according to Mark Gurman’s report, the idea is “beyond”Apple. The Cupertino-based company views its mixed reality devices as simple tools for communication, content visualization and even games, but the Apple brand does not suggest that we “live”through them.
No one knows if Apple’s strategy will be the right one, much less sustainable compared to what Meta is building. After all, this is all very new, such concepts as technology are in their infancy. Maybe Apple’s strategy will be right in the short term, but maybe in the long term, who knows, the metaverse will be our new reality. Where will the apple sign be at this time? To be continued!
