Apple fixes iOS 15.4 battery drain issue with software update

Here are Apple’s brief release notes for the update:

This update includes the following bug fixes for your iPhone:

  • The battery may drain faster than expected after updating to iOS 15.4.
  • Braille devices may become unresponsive when navigating through text or displaying alerts.
  • Hearing aids made for iPhone may lose connection with some third party apps.

Thursday’s update comes about two weeks after the launch of the new iPhone SE and iOS 15.4, which was likely the last major feature update before iOS 16. iOS 15.4 gave users the ability to use Face ID while wearing a face mask, introduced gender identity. a neutral American English voice for Siri and, among other things, many new emojis have been added.

Apple also released iPadOS 15.4.1, watchOS 8.5.1, and tvOS 15.4.1. Bug fixes and security updates are an important part of today’s OS update, but they also add support for the Apple Business Essentials program. Apple calls Business Essentials “one complete subscription that seamlessly combines device management, 24/7 support, and cloud storage.”
