Disney is developing a sci-fi fantasy film inspired by the classic collection of Middle Eastern tales Arabian Nights, also known as Arabian Nights.
A new Disney feature film titled 1001 Nights is currently written and produced by Arash Amel (Uprising, Private War, Ministry of Ungentlemen’s War). Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it will be an original take on old folk tales and separate intellectual property not related to existing Disney projects like Aladdin. Aladdin’s Miraculous Lamp is one of the stories featured in the Thousand and One Nights, along with other well-known tales such as Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and Sinbad the Sailor’s Seven Voyages.

Reimagining the fairy tale “A Thousand and One Nights”from Disney.
The work has been collected over several centuries by various authors, translators and scholars from Western, Central and South Asia, as well as North Africa. Some stories, including Aladdin, were added in later editions. Over the years, the collection has proven to be fertile ground for film, television and video game producers. Directors who have taken on the tales include Georges Méliès, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Miguel Gomez, while Disney and Guy Ritchie recently revisited the Aladdin story in 2019 with Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari and Will Smith in the cast.
