Ascend are the world’s first Valiant Champions, Agent 19 is also teased during the finale

The first ever iteration of the Valorant Champions Tour ended, and Ascend emerged victorious, becoming the first Valorant World Champions. The previous pair of tournaments organized by Riot for the game were regional – EU and North America.

The final battle between Gambit and Ascend was pretty exciting and both teams gave it their all, but Ascend ended up victorious. The first season of Valorant Champions kicked off on December 1st, with 16 of the world’s best esports teams vying for esports supremacy. If the first season was any sign, fans can expect the highest level of competition in each successive season of Valorant Champions.

Ascend wins the very first Valorant World Champions, as Agent 19 teased during the finale.

During the VCT Championship Finals, Riot was also teased about introducing the next agent in Valorant, and it was pretty vague to say the least. It will be interesting to see what abilities the new agent will have and how much it will shake up the gaming meta. Before the actual “reveal”, the teasers hinted at the origin of the Agent, who appears to have roots in the Philippines.

Winning the title of world champion is quite a feat, and the scale and quality of the event only demonstrates the massive popularity of esports and how it will continue to get bigger and better. The 2022 Valorant Champions Tour has now been announced, and fans can look forward to the return of international competition, an expansion of regional Challenger events, and new digital features to support esports.

The new global Game Changers event will bring together the best teams from around the world. Over the next few days, Riot will share more information about the regional Challenger competitions.
