Atari announces acquisition of Nightdive Studios

Nightdive Studios will be the remastering specialist for French publisher Atari.

Atari’s purchase of Nightdive Studios will cost ten million dollars, half of which will be paid in cash and half in Atari stock upon closing, plus a profit of up to ten million dollars payable in cash over the next three years depending on future performance a great specialist in restoring old games such as Shadow Man, Quake, Doom 64, Turok and Turok 2 with their own KEX Engine authoring tool.

Wade Rosen, CEO of Atari commented:

Nightdive Studios Takes Over Atari

For the fiscal year ending December 2022, Nightdive Studios reported revenue of approximately $3 million. The founders own 87% of the company, while Atari CEO Wade Rosen owns a 13% minority stake. This acquisition will allow Atari to expand its vast library of intellectual property, leverage Nightdive Studios’ proprietary technology, and leverage Nightdive Studios’ publishing capabilities to support its retro-focused growth strategy.
