Baby Shark becomes first YouTube video to reach 10 billion views

Baby Shark surpasses the symbolic 10 billion views on YouTube. How high can the counter go?

YouTube is arguably the most popular video platform in the world. Everything can be found there, and it serves as a springboard for many creators and artists. Regularly, the video causes a stir, increasing the popularity rating of its author. Some of them have been popular for a long time and continue to generate a buzz. Such is the case with the song Baby Shark, which offers a good record today.

Baby Shark breaks 10 billion YouTube views

Remember when PSY’s “Gangnam Style”took the world by storm and became the first video to hit the symbolic 1 billion views mark? To date, the video in question has just over 4 billion views, which is already very impressive, but now we have a new, very symbolic record holder, with the song Baby Shark.

This song, which is very popular with kids, is the first YouTube video to cross the 10 billion mark, according to the YouTube counter. This video has already become the most viewed video of all time on YouTube in November 2020 with over 7 billion views at the time. So it has received at least 3 billion additional views since then.

How high can the counter go?

The song dates from 2016 and was created by South Korean education company Pinkfong and performed by Korean-American singer Hope Segoin. If the video and the song were already quite popular in Asia, it wasn’t until 2019 that the American media started using them, in particular to make them into a TV series on the Nickelodeon network and even Kellogg cereal, the popularity skyrocketed.

The song then made its way into every head, every corner of the globe, flooding social media platforms, and TikTok in particular, with many teenagers and adults filming themselves dancing to it.
