Larian Studios did not sign any console exclusivity agreements with Sony in order to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to PS5.

To everyone’s surprise, Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on August 31st for PC, Mac and Nvidia GeForce Now (cloud gaming), as well as the Sony PS5. Contrary to the fantasies of some toxic fans on social media, the Belgians from Larian Studios assure that this is not a console exclusive and there really is an Xbox version, even if development will be difficult in the near future:

We have been developing the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 for some time now. We ran into technical issues during the development of this port that prevent us from announcing it with confidence until we are sure we have found the right solutions. Gate 3 on Xbox at launch, barring technical issues. If and when we announce other platforms, we want to make sure every release meets our standards and expectations.

So the only reason we haven’t announced the Xbox version is because we’re not ready for it yet. It has nothing to do with exclusivity. Read more here https://t.co/FC0juT5qBM
