Sony’s LinkBuds wireless headphones may soon get a successor

A few days ago, several images leaked information about Sony’s upcoming flagship WH-1000XM5 headphones. While this has definitely generated some hype from fans, according to a new leak, the headphones may not be the only ones to hit the market in the future. A couple of new images have surfaced online showing the following headphones from the Japanese firm. It is not known if they belong to the premium segment, but they do resemble the WF-1000XM4 headphones. According to a tweeter’s Twitter account called SnoopyTech, the headphones may be part of Sony’s “LinkBuds”family and may come in two colors – black and beige or sand.

Leaked Sony LinkBuds S/WF-LSN900: design and specifications

In terms of design, the headphones seem to take the shape of the existing WF-1000XM4 flagship, but don’t look premium. Although they are said to be part of the Sony LinkBuds lineup, the design seems to be completely different from the current model. The first set of LinkBuds (WF-L900) was released in February this year and featured an open design. The leaker calls it the Sony LinkBuds S/WF-LSN900 true wireless noise canceling headphones.

These headphones appear to be slightly smaller than the WF-1000XM4 and have a silicone eartip to seal the ear canal for better noise cancellation. It also appears that the vent is located right behind the sound tubes, which is possibly meant to cut out or let in outside noise for various transparency modes. One of the features mentioned is that the headphones will be able to automatically enter Ambient Mode or return to ANC mode, preventing users from switching manually. However, we expect the ANC to be almost the same as in the WH-1000XM4, if not the same.

Leaked Sony LinkBuds S/WF-LSN900: expected price

Although there is no word on when the new LinkBuds will be released or at what price, for comparison, the original Sony LinkBuds cost 180 euros. The 1000XM4 headphones cost $328 (MRP). Thus, we can assume that it will cost about $210.

While Sony seems to be making the competition sweat with the new LinkBuds and WH-1000XM5 headphones, rival Sennheiser is also vying to take over the audio market. The firm recently gave its answer to Sony’s 1000XM4 wireless headphones with the launch of the Momentum True Wireless 3 headphones. They cost $249.95 and feature larger 7mm drivers, as well as adaptive ANC, support for custom profiles, and more.
