Batman: the universe will expand with a license of villains

New films in the Gotham universe are being prepared.

In addition to producing the Batman movie sequel and the Penguin TV series, American director Matt Reeves has been meeting with writers and directors for several weeks to put together feature films focusing on Batman’s vast gallery of villains, whether famous or obscure, like Scarecrow, Clayface and Professor Pig. All of these projects are still in their infancy, but Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films are following developments very closely.

Joker in Batman sequel?

The new version of the Joker, played by Barry Keoghan, appears to have fought Robert Pattinson’s Batman before and might want to team up with the Riddler to fight him again. Although the character does not appear until the end of the film, a deleted scene released during the theatrical release of The Batman shows Batman and the Joker talking together, separated by glass. This five-minute clip helped establish the intimidating nature of the Joker in this universe, hinting at what would happen between him and Bruce Wayne.

In a recent interview with GQ, Barry Keoghan spoke about his ambition to reprise his role as the Joker in the Batman universe. While his role in the sequel has yet to be confirmed, he hopes to be able to bring his role as the Joker to the big screen as soon as possible:

As soon as they call… I’m here, I’ll be their man.
