Over the past few months, Krafton has been incredibly proactive when it comes to isolating and removing cheaters from BGH, racking up some pretty big numbers while doing so. However, as a result of collateral damage, in the midst of BGMI’s expulsion of cheaters, many players not actually guilty of using any illegal third-party apps or cheating can often fall into the ax as well.
In an effort to increase the transparency of BGMI and give players clarity on bans and cheating, Krafton has released a fairly detailed description of their countermeasures and how they work. Krafton assures players that it will continue its efforts to combat BGMI cheating and root out the use of illegal software in the game.
What happens when BGMI shows a warning message?
Crafton explains that the warning message appears even if the player has not used an illegal program, the software simply detects data that is considered illegal (data falsification, etc.) by installing other applications. This usually happens when the app is downloaded from sources other than the official marketplace (Google Play Store and Apple App Store).
Thus, an account may receive a warning message or even a ban without the intention of the player to cheat. As such, Krafton encourages players to only download BGMI through official channels.
In the event that players receive a warning message without intentional cheating, players can proceed with normal repairs to convert the falsified data back to normal.
List of illegal activities that can lead to a ban
As mentioned earlier, players can often get a warning or even a ban even if they are not intentionally trying to cheat BGMI. That’s why Krafton details a number of activities that can often be attributed to fraud.
Here is a list of activities that can often expose players to the software, which in turn leads to warning messages and bans:
- The installed application is downloaded from an unofficial channel.
- Installing illegal programs or unreliable auxiliary programs on your device.
- Using a rooted or jailbroken device
- Using another player’s account
- When anomalous data is found
How to fix it with the regular repair feature
This is a really important point for players who want to continue playing BGMI after receiving a warning message from the game. The Regular Repair feature will essentially replace abnormal data in the affected player’s account with normal data.
Follow these instructions to use the regular repair feature:
- Tap the arrow in the lower right corner of the lobby.
- Select Settings > General > Sign out.
- Click “Restore”on the BGMI login splash screen.
- Select “Regular Repair”and “Confirm”.
This will allow players to log into their accounts again and continue playing. Players who receive a warning or a ban will not be able to log in unless they have scheduled maintenance running.
