Blizzard Entertainment: Vicarious Visions no longer exists

The American studio Blizzard Entertainment, known since the end of 1990 as Vicarious Visions, is now called Blizzard Albany.

Last year, Activision Blizzard announced plans to introduce Vicarious Visions to Blizzard Entertainment as a support team. At the time, the studio behind the remakes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy said it would no longer be making games as lead developer. Now it’s official. The development team of 200 employees fully merged with Blizzard Entertainment and became a subsidiary of Blizzard Allbany.

This veteran studio was founded over 30 years ago and has since released dozens of games, often licensed for multiple platforms. Vicarious Visions was acquired by Activision in 2005 and has worked on several of the publisher’s biggest franchises, including Skylanders, Guitar Hero, Destiny, and Call of Duty.
