Blizzard Confirms World of Warcraft Coming to Mobile in 2022

A new mobile game from the popular World of Warcraft franchise is in development, and this is the first official port of a Warcraft game to mobile platforms.

Warcraft was one of the most popular Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) of all time, but was largely popular on desktop PC platforms. Now, however, the natural evolution of most popular game franchises has gone mobile, so it’s no surprise that Warcraft is following the same path.

The news was confirmed by Activision Blizzard in its latest earnings report, where it told shareholders about its fourth quarter 2021 results. Blizzard, the developers of the Warcraft game, have confirmed that the game itself will be released in 2022. However, they still haven’t been able to confirm when it could be released, and an estimated release date of late 2022 is as much detail as we could muster.

There is no word yet on what format Warcraft will offer in its mobile avatar. The title can probably compete with clan fighting games like Clash of Kings and League of Legends. The latter two regularly rank among the most popular mobile games of all time, so it’s no surprise that Activision Blizzard is considering this segment to offer one of its most popular games of all time.

Activision has already seen reasonable success with its mobile port of Call of Duty Mobile, which has taken over the battle royale category and is one of the hottest offerings here today – along with other titles like Genshin Impact, Garena Free Fire and Battlegrounds Mobile India. Port of PUBG Mobile for India.

It’s likely that we’ll hear more about the World of Warcraft title in the coming months. It’s also likely that, unless they run into regulatory issues in terms of anticompetitive laws, the World of Warcraft franchise will become Microsoft’s property by the time it launches. It remains to be seen how the title fits into Microsoft’s plans for mobile games, which we’ll likely hear more about in the near future.
