BlizzardBoard for TrollStore Unlocks App Icon Theme on Non-Jailbreak Devices

BlizzardBoard is a new jailbreak and non-jailbreak iPhone app that can be installed via TrollStore for home screen app icon theme.

Launched midnight last night by developer Benjamin Hornbeck (@AppInstalleriOS), BlizzardBoard takes existing theme sets and applies them to the home screen.

It looks like BlizzardBoard users can get the files. deb themes and convert them to files. zip before moving them to /var/mobile/Themes with Filza. Once there, BlizzardBoard can use them:

Conveniently enough for TrollStore users, a special version of Filza is available for jailbroken devices in addition to the one that can be installed via the package manager app on jailbroken devices.

It looks like BlizzardBoard uses the same mechanism as the Shortcuts app to change app icons, so this means you won’t have notification badges on icons as you would when creating icon themes via SnowBoard on a jailbroken device. One benefit, however, is that BlizzardBoard doesn’t display a banner after every launch of the app, as the Shortcuts app does.

Files. deb files for free themes can be obtained from the iOS Repo Updates. Paid themes are available from the respective developers upon request.

As for whether you should give BlizzardBoard a try or not, it’s entirely up to you. This concept seems like a cool way to use TrollStore on non-jailbroken phones, but it’s worth mentioning that some users used /r/jailbreak to report problems with blank icons in the initial release, while others reported respring loops. It might be worth waiting for these issues to be fixed before jumping on board.
