Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II: Toxic players will be silent in chats

Toxic Call of Duty players will be able to mute their chats. This should provide a more positive experience in these games.

Play almost any online game for long enough and you are bound to run into players with toxic behavior who simply utter offensive words and texts in chat, voice or text. Activision has decided to take further steps to combat these idiots with more advanced moderation tools in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty Warzone 2.0.

Toxic Call of Duty players will be able to mute their chats

Once a player is found to have made toxic comments in a chat, game moderation teams can now disable that person in all chat channels. So while their comments may not necessarily result in a complete ban, players who abuse the chat may not be able to be read or heard. Activision continues to rely on other users to identify offending players through in-game reporting. Riot Games, on the other hand, has begun to take proactive action by monitoring Valorant’s voice chat for offensive texts.

Before playing Modern Warfare II or Warzone 2.0, players must read and accept the Code of Conduct. This includes a ban on harassment, insults or intolerant comments.

This should provide a more positive experience in these games.

Also, when you report a toxic player in Call of Duty, you can add context. A dialog has appeared in the reporting system in which you can explain in more detail what happened. Activision explains that it will use these same tools in all future Call of Duty games.

These moderation tools are not particularly new. Overwatch has long allowed its players to provide reasons for complaints. But Modern Warfare II is one of the biggest games ever, selling more than $1 billion in 10 days. Without a doubt, Warzone 2.0 will also have a huge player base upon launch on November 16th. Having better moderation tools to curb toxic behavior and provide a more positive gaming experience is rarely a bad thing.
