Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently under development and uses the RE Engine graphics engine.
Japanese publisher Capcom reflected on the creation of Dragon’s Dogma with its game director: “Hideaki Itsuno talked about how classic tabletop RPGs introduced him to the fantasy genre. Captivated by this first experience, he became interested in arcade and action games, in particular Street Fighter II combat. In 2000, Itsuno-san released several games for Capcom’s arcade division and began developing the first concepts for the game that would become Dragon’s Dogma. However, that dream will have to wait as Itsuno-san has been tasked with finishing production on Devil May Cry 2 and then directing the sequels Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 4.
After finishing production on the DMC games, Hideaki Itsuno finally returned to the project he had been thinking about for so long. The special approach to magical combat and the possibility of fighting giant enemies already distinguished DD from its contemporaries, but it was the unique pawn system present in the title that contributed to the fact that the game became special in the hearts of fans around the world. This particular system was born out of Hideaki Itsuno’s desire to make the game single-player, allowing players to feel connected to each other using AI-controlled companions created and trained by them.
Dragon’s Dogma II will begin the cycle anew.

The highlight of the show was the official release of the sequel after years of waiting: “Finally, Hideaki Itsuno has given fans their first taste of what’s to come in the series with the introduction of Dragon’s Dogma 2. The development team, including Dragon’s Dogma veterans Daigo Ikeno and Kenichi Suzuki, are hard at work creating this new parts and look forward to sharing more details in the future.”
