Garmin releases the simple yet effective Vívosmart 5 fitness tracker.
Garmin has just released the next generation of its Vívosmart fitness tracker, the Vívosmart 5. It’s been almost four years since Garmin released the previous version in this range, and generally speaking, this new model doesn’t change the recipe. The device still looks the same as its predecessor, albeit with a larger OLED display and an interchangeable strap.
Garmin launches Vívosmart 5 fitness tracker
Unlike other models, Vívosmart 5 does not have full GPS, so it must connect to your smartphone to measure the distance, speed and pace of your walks or bike rides. In total, no less than 14 activity modes are available, from yoga to HIIT sessions and breathing exercises.
Simple but effective
For those who need more, the lack of ECG sensors and built-in GPS will be fatal. Fitness trackers have come a long way since the release of Vívosmart 4 in 2018. The latest Apple and Fitbit models offer plenty of health and exercise tracking features, GPS, and great sensors. Garmin’s more expensive models have it all, including the Fenix 7 multi-LED flashlight and Instinct 2 solar charging. Their sleep, menstrual cycle, blood oxygen levels or stress levels, the Vívosmart 5 might be a good choice.
The battery of this Garmin Vívosmart 5 should allow the device to operate for 7 days without recharging without activating sleep monitoring or SpO2. The accessory is also water-resistant – perfect for swimming or showering – and the silicone strap is available in three colors: mint green, black or white. The Vívosmart 5 retails for €149.99, the same price as the latest Fitbit Charge and some Garmin watches, including the Forerunner 45.
