The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip could outshine the competition. Mid-range smartphones should become very interesting.
When we think of the chips of the most popular and powerful smartphones, we think of models from companies like Apple that use their own A-chips in their iPhones, we think of Samsung’s Exynos line, which offers some very interesting performance. We also don’t forget about Qualcomm with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, which will be used in many 2022 flagships. MediaTek also did not stand aside and proves it today.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip could make competitors swoon
MediaTek also makes its own chips, but these are most often integrated into entry-level and mid-range products. However, that seems to be changing, or at least an option for high-end smartphone makers with the all-new Dimensity 9000 chip.
According to the leaked chip benchmarks, it looks like the Dimensity 9000 scored 1309 in single-core tests and 4546 in multi-core tests on Geekbench. In comparison, this is better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which scored 1224 and 3445 respectively. And it’s also very close to what the Apple A15 Bionic chip offers, which scores 1733 and 4751 respectively in these same tests.
Mid-range smartphones should become very interesting
This can make some companies break out in a cold sweat. Especially since this Dimensity 9000 chip was already speculated to be used in smartphones offered at a public price of around $500. In other words, these mid-range devices will offer better performance than the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and cost half as much.
At the same time, benchmarks tell only part of the story. Raw performance is just one aspect of the smartphone experience. There are many other factors to consider when deciding whether to buy a particular model, such as third-party features, such as photos.
